Sunshine Coast and Bruce Highway road conditions

Don’t stress yourself out on your way to relax. Make sure you know where to go and what to expect when travelling to Hunchy Hideaway's Montville cabins near Maleny.

Before heading to Montville, find out more about road conditions and traffic. 

When using the ‘Get Custom Directions’ widget from Google, please be aware that the route given from Palmwoods to Hunchy Hideaway is not ideal, nor are the directions from your own GPS. We recommend you print the directions we have written for you, especially if arriving after dark!

Directions from Brisbane

Hunchy's Sunshine Coast hinterland accommodation cottages are located about 90 minutes from Brisbane and Brisbane Airport.

  • On the Bruce Highway, go past the Caloundra turn off and past the former Ettamogah Pub (Aussie World) on the left. After about another 8km, pass through Forest Glen. Make sure you are in the left lane after this and take the Nambour turn off to the left, just after Forest Glen. This is also the turn off for the Big Pineapple..
  • About 1km after passing the Big Pineapple, take the Palmwoods exit on the left.  Turn left at the roundabout and drive several kilometres into Palmwoods. Go under the railway bridge and turn left, drive through Palmwoods towards Montville.
  • About 2km from Palmwoods, there are two roundabouts – one just before the school zone and another one after the school access road. Continue on past the caravan park and over the Paynter Creek bridge.
  • Immediately past the creek is Hunchy Road. Turn right here. Drive 5km to the purple shed, then turn right (our sign is on the corner).
  • 1km on the right is Hunchy Hideaway Montville Cabins – 609 Hunchy Road.

Directions from the North

  • From the Bruce Hwy, exit at the Maroochydore/Nambour turn off (also the Big Pineapple turn off). You will now find yourself entering a large roundabout … take the 3 o’clock exit to Nambour which is also the Big Pineapple exit.
  • About 1km after passing the Big Pineapple, take the Palmwoods exit on the left. Turn left at the roundabout and drive several kilometres into Palmwoods. Go under the railway bridge and turn left, drive through Palmwoods towards Montville.
  • About 2km from Palmwoods, there are two roundabouts – one just before the school zone and another one after the school access road. Continue on past the caravan park and over the Paynter Creek bridge.
  • Immediately past the creek is Hunchy Road. Turn right here. Drive 5km to the old fruit shed, then turn right (our sign is on the corner).
  • 1km on right is Hunchy Hideaway Montville Cabins – 609 Hunchy Road.
